A Trek Worth Taking?
With the release of the Star Trek trailer, it's watched in anticipation. There are so many questions I have in my head that I want the answers to. It's alot to ask out of something that's 2:12 long. Seeing a car racing along in the beginning of the trailer kind of puts you back. As a fan of Star Trek, you're not used to seeing regular things in the series. There's always some form a tricorder, transporter or holodeck. The first glimpse we get to see is the child Kirk and with the delivery of the line, "James Tiberius Kirk" you take a step back and kind of sigh because it's not really the punch you know they hoped it would be. That aside, when we get to see a glimpse at the construction of the U.S.S Enterprise, I couldn't help but get a little geeky inside. With the appearance of the Zachary Quinto (Sylar from Heroes) as the iconic Mr. Spock you start to think to yourself that some good things are head. There couldn't have been a better casting decision. Throughout the course of the trailer we get to see glimpses of world that remind us of the original series and various shots of the cast. We get to see a quick glimpse of Eric Bana as the formidable enemy in this movie. Whenever someone brings up his name, all I can think of is The Incredible Hulk and unconsciously frown in my head. It's great to get glimpses of the young versions of characters I know so well. Sulu, Uhura, Dr. McCoy, they're all there and look really great. All of a sudden BAM! Mr. Spock goes all Vulcan death grip on Kirk. Can't wait to see where that goes. Finally, the trailer ends with a simple fade into the iconic insignia and the simple worlds "Star Trek." A couple music notes play that remind you of The Original Series and my geek journey is done. Will the movie be good? I can't say, but I hope so. All I know is that it's going to be an awesome ride. One that I will happily sign up for.
