I Watch With Great Hope And Small Fear
I did not intend to watch the full day coverage of Barak Obama's inauguration. As reporters talked about how many layers of socks people were wearing and ridiculous factoids like one Porta Potty per 400 people on the National Mall, I thought of Rosa Parks and Medgar Evers, quiet heroes. Dr. King and Malcom X who used their gift of words to electrify the nation. My hope is that our forty fourth President truly is the man of peace and service that he has presented himself to be. My fear is that there are always those who hate what is new and hopeful. I pray that all the world joins the United States in stepping into a bright new era.
