The Day of Change

Watching the Inauguration of Barack Obama was almost surreal. The capital packed as far as the eye can see. Millions upon millions of people celebrating, and not rioting and screaming as they were 4 years ago. Truly an amazing and peaceful passage of power from George Bush to now President Barack Obama. The Inaugural speech was, as expected, elegant and well thought. An remarkable collection of individuals gathered to assist in the inauguration, speaking so with bated breath of the hopes of a nation for change. The oration skills that Obama possesses will be remembered long after his reign is through, and can only aid in communications with other countries, powers and people. His intelligence and ideas stood out through his words, and the long journey has begun. It is a hopeful day that, optimistically, will lead the United States down a better path, thus lending a hand in the advancement of other countries. Collectively, the nation of the United States has spoken, and history has been made. Watching George Bush be removed by helicopter, truthfully, put me in high spirits. I am, to say the least, unimpressed by his eight-year tenure and have a sour taste in my mouth for the events that transpired under his watch. I hope for only swift and rational shift in the political system, and a turn around in the doctrine that the previous President and government held to, despite its obvious failure.
