Fishburne Better Than Bug Man?
When I first heard that Gil the "Bug Man" was leaving CSI I was devastated! First we lose Sara and now Gil?!? Then the news came that his replacement would be Laurence Fishburne, which I thought seemed like a decision totally unexpected and out of the blue. I can see how Fishburne is similarly tough and stubborn, but when Peterson was on the show he added some great humor and charisma. So far I don't feel as though Fishburne has successfully provided that type of humanism to his own character. He comes off kind of one-dimensional. This definitely showed during the first episode he was in when he was upset about the police coming into his classroom. You can tell that he is pretty self-righteous. Hopefully though he will come down to earth a little. I think that is where the producers are taking this...especially since they showed him messing up that first case and getting spit on. Perhaps in time he will become more likable through these humanizing events. Maybe part of me is so reluctant to like him because even the team was unwilling to accept him at first! And seriously how can ANYONE not miss Bug Man SOOOO MUCH.
