Nothing Short of Greek Tragedy

Seems like I finally got what I've been waiting for–both Cal and Chloe's deaths. It's not so much that I wanted them dead as much as I was anticipating it. The way their deaths occurred, this two-for-one type unfolding of events, I had to admit was something I found to be very interesting. In fact, I think it was nothing short of a Greek tragedy with a little bit of Romeo and Juliet in there, too. When Cal finally proposed to Chloe, I had a feeling his fate was sealed and wondered how he'd die. I just didn't expect Chloe to join him until she was face to face with Wakefield.

Even through her death, Chloe added depth to her character. She obviously loved Cal, but to join him in death the way she did, by willingly falling off the bridge, was something I didn't expect. Remember, this is the same Chloe who used to flirt with Sully in the earlier episodes even though she was in a pretty serious relationship. I couldn't say I would've done the same thing. In her place I would've escaped and lived; it's not like Wakefield had a gun. She had plenty of time to run, and I don't think Cal would've wanted her to die or else he wouldn't have tried to protect her. I'd say that Chloe's love for Cal increased since coming to the island, no doubt the result of being faced with death and the reality of just how short life is.
