Dichotomy
What can I say about the show that hasn't already been said? I like “Heroes,” and I probably always will because I happen to have a soft spot for that kind of TV show, so I'm not going to sit here and say that I won't watch it anymore; I'd be lying.
Just because I'm a fan of the show doesn't mean that they're doing everything right. What I can say about the show is that there has been some definite improvement from last season, and for that the writers at least deserve an honorary pat on the back or something.
It's the direction of the storyline that has me both interested and bored. In other words, it's creating a dichotomy in me, but I don't mind. A little love/hate is just fine with me. There are some days when the episode interests me one hundred percent like when they're showing what's going on with Matt and how he has to try to keep Sylar at bay. I don't know if anyone else enjoyed that, but I did; I like their little back and forth. And the whole suicide attempt by police was nice, too.
On the other hand, I feel like I have to wait weeks just to see something interesting happen in the show. There are times when the story seems to go almost nowhere. Take the episodes involving Emma and Peter for example. I keep wondering if she's going to develop her powers or not. I want to see where she's going with this whole synesthesia thing.
And then there's the carnival. Each episode all I get is a few brushstrokes when there's a whole mass of the iceberg under the water, so to speak, that hasn't been fully explored. They've got a lot of interesting people there, and we're not shown very many of them. Part of the appeal of this show is the fact that everyone has powers, and I find them really interesting because of that, but how can I find these people remotely interesting if I'm never shown what they can do?
