"Defining Ingredient is Love"
Samuel makes a profound statement in the episode, "The Fifth Stage." Gretchen asks Samuel, “What is it you people want with her [Claire]?” Samuel answers, “Families encompass all [forms] . . . defining ingredient is love.”
This episode is definitely showing that Samuel is determined to create a place where all the "freaks" will live - and where they can be themselves. He uses this propoganda to get Claire and others to join him. They don't know that he has a hidden agenda.
Recap: At beginnng of episode, Lydia tells Samuel that she knows the truth, but she has a daughter so she won't say anything. Samuel asks the Multiplier to retrieve some files from the apartment of Noah Bennett. Bennett is trying to figure out how the compass works with Miss Gilmore. He realizes Claire took it when he can't find it. The Multiplier goes to Bennett's house and takes all of his files. Claire and Gretchen go to the carnival, Samuel befriends them. Claire defends Samuel when an irate carnival goer starts beating him up. She decides to stay a few nights to decide if she wants to stay.
Meanwhile, Peter thinks Nathan is still alive. He fights Skylar and gets his brother back. As Nathan and Peter are conversing, Skylar tries to take over his body again. Nathan says that he can't fight any longer and wants to give up the fight. He dies and Skylar takes over his body.
Really creepy - at the end, the show the dead body of a guy at the back of his pickup truck. Turns out this was the guy that tried to beat up Samuel at the carnival.
