Adoration of Abby Sciuto
I know everyone has their favorite character in NCIS. Mine is Abby for a number of reasons.
First, I love the fact that she blows all those typical stereotypes out of the water. Usually when people think about a 'goth chick' they think of some street urchin or a depressed person who is always talking about suicide.
Not only is Abby a completely unique and fun looking character, but they also have created her with a level of intellect that is far above most people. She's the perfect combination of brains, beauty and individuality.
I also like the fact that instead of the typical gothic stereotype of a distant and dark person she is portrayed as a very loving and emotional person (if you happen to be someone that she cares about). Seeing her get worked up and emotional when Tony and McGee were injured, while facing off against a strong and angry delusional marine in 'Corporal Punishment', showed that she has very strong feelings and emotions and cares intensely about others around her.
With this said, Abby is a no-nonsense chick and will not waste time on those who do not deserve it. I often think we should all act this way. To those who are true friends, we should be there for them and to those who aren't save our emotional resources for those who warrant it.
When it comes to her character, I love her way of communicating. She has the most fun lines to listen to in the show. Her long, drawn out, and over-detailed explanations of every experiment she has run to try and solve a case, and her 'oops' look and summed up version of the rest of the answer after she gets a dirty look from Gibbs always makes me laugh.
I think the final thing that really makes me adore Abby is the lines that are written for her that are the ones we all want to think of. You know what I'm talking about. Those lines that are used as general Abby conversation, but are lines that only great writers could come up with. They always have priceless quotable lines for Abby. Lines like:
"Weird - Not like kissing your brother weird, but like new weird, like the first time you put your feet in Jello."
They are lines that make you turn your head a little, think it out and then end up laughing out loud.
It's even better that she has a unique voice that is enjoyable to hear while you are listening to the delivery of her lines.
All I know is if I ever have any evidence that needs to be deciphered, I would love to listen to Abby chatter her way through each and every test as she waits for her babies (the machines) to give her the information she needs to solve the case.

Abby is the "Sipowitz" of NCIS. With all due respect to pretty boy Harmon, she's the one character that can't be replaced. Likened unto the Sipowitz character on NYPD Blue, if they lose Abby, they might as well fold their tent.

I agree. Abby is my favorite character. The show will not be the same without her.
