Agent Lee - The Traitor?

If you haven't been watching NCIS lately and have not become enthralled with the Agent Lee story line, you really missed out. Seeing it come to it's fruition this week was intense and left me with my jaw dropped.

***Spoiler Notice*** If you haven't watched the last episode of this story line, I am about to mention some of the things that happen

Even considering the ending of this story line, I am still having a tough time becoming too sympathetic for Agent Lee.

I am a little scared to have found that I am thinking like Anthony DiNozzo. The next thing I know I'll be making movie references relating to things that go on in my life.

While the recent episodes have shown that her motivation to be a traitor is that someone is holding her daughter, I still have a tough time being too supportive of a woman who killed another NCIS agent and then seemed to always make a mess of the attempts to close in on the people who are controlling her.

Sure, I have a few moments of sympathy for her because her daughter has been taken and she is trying to protect a child, but at some point, you have to realize that you need help instead of just stopping the agents, who know how to track down bad guys like this, from doing their job.

I also consider the possibilities of something like this really happening - someone doing whatever it takes, including killing federal agents, to steal military secrets. I know this type of thing does happen in actuality. There are plenty of people who betray their country, at any price, for any of a number of reasons. It's frightening to me to see how easy it is to blackmail someone to this extent.

By the end of this episode, I had to agree with Director Vance. It was a very noble thing to do, to sacrifice herself to kill the threat, but at the same time, it was likely the best solution to the problem. If Agent Lee had lived through this, she would have been locked away for he rest of her life for the crimes she committed, no matter the reason behind them. So, Amanda would have just known that she was in jail as a murderer and traitor. Instead, she was able to be remembered as a hero, who gave her life to stop a man who would have used national secrets.

There are two people I really feel sorry for in this story line. Of course, I feel sorry for the little girl who was a victim throughout. I also feel for Gibbs. While he knew what he had to do, consider if you were in that situation and had to kill someone you knew to stop the bad guy. That would be such a tough thing to do.
