Family at Home Episode . . . Yah, Right.
This weeks NCIS once again opened with quite the scene. It began with what looked like a fun 'family at home' scene with the exception that dad was talking to his daughter through a videophone from Iraq.
Life continues in the house with mom yelling at her son to clean his room and when he ignores her she decides to do it, which gets him moving. By how fast he wants to help clean she knows he is hiding something and starts looking around. She finds a box with a playboy in it and starts to lecture him until she hears the rattle of something else in the box and finds a gun.
It turns out the gun was also used to kill a man, who the boy and his friends help NCIS agents find, after a lot of prodding.
It was interesting to watch the interrogation of the boy and his friends. Gibbs and Ziva know these kids are the ones who found the gun (and they find out they also found the body that was beside it), but getting information out of a child who is afraid to tell the truth is not easy.
Ziva finally gets one to talk by tripping him up. After repeatedly saying he didn't know anything about the gun she asks a run of questions like 'Did they show you the gun?', 'Did they show you the bullets?', 'Did they show you the magazine? The boy responds that there was no magazine and ends up catching himself in his own lie.
It turns out McGee's days as a boy scout help them finally find the body, once the kids lose their way in the woods. He helps them track down where they had been as well as watching the circling of a few vultures that help to pinpoint the location of the missing dead guy. But there is more to this.
Abby is determined the gun is evil. It has been used to kill more than one person, was from an old murder case and then was released and killed again. She is adamant that Gibbs make the gun go away saying, "I know what you are going to say - that it 's not guns that kill people but people kill people but this gun kills people."
In the end you may be surprised to find out 'who done it', and why, and it was yet another all around great episode.
