Brimstone: How Come the Weird Ones Always Claim the Bible
I have to admit - as a Christian, it irks me when "weird" people claim to be born again and then go around killing people. I did like the way they handled this episode of NCIS: Los Angeles. Thankfully, he didn't mention anything about Jesus, just a verse - and he didn't even quote it, one of the agents did.
The episode starts out when a man goes to an ATM machine and his phone rings. He answers and doesn't hear anyone and then it blows up. Mr. Ross was a former staff sergeant that dealt with explosives. He was a part of a convoy where Americans were killed. He was discharged because he lost hearing in one ear; so it's kind of ironic that he would die with an explosive They figure out the killer was near (in proximity) to Ross when he died.
They speak to Ross's father and find out that Ross lent a lot of money to a friend, King, that wasn't paying him back. Ross had to have known the person from Iraq (Palusia?). The agents finally find the cell phone of the killer in a dumpster. Sam finds King who is trying to detonate a bomb. He claims that Ross helped him, he would never kill him.
They find out that Ross had lunch with Stanton Olen a few days before the bombing. They go to his house and he jumps into his car trying to escape. The car he was in blew up but the NCIS agents manage to get him out before he dies. On a picture of the car (a blowup) they see a verse from the Koran written on the back glass of Olen's car. It is a warning in Arabic. They realize a guy in his unit may have written it down - He was badly burned in the explosion in Iraq and they find out his name is Tariq.
They speak to Tariq's sister-in-law and find out that he drops off money every month. They finally track his whereabouts down and find out that he works in King's shop. They are able to arrest him.
Olen tells an NCIS agent that Tariq and Ross killed a woman, baby, and old lady in Iraq. He says he never told anyone and he gives his Bible to the agent.
When they question Tariq, he says that Ross saved his life and Olen did, also.
They figure out Olen put a smaller bomb in his car - he also lied about the baby - Tariq says that it was a bomb and Olen killed the lady with the “baby”. They go to Olen's residence and find his house rigged with bombs. Olen has a list of names written down and purchased tickets on a flight to Atlanta from LAX.
They feel that Olen is going to kill himself in front of King. They agents are able to subdue him, as he has rigged himself with explosives. King, cuts the bomb wires and everybody's o,k.
At the end, Tariq is reunited with his sister-in-law and her daughter - just in time for the Christmas season:)
