Essential TV Viewing: NCIS: Los Angeles

NCIS: Los Angeles is a spin-off of the smash hit NCIS, which itself is a spin-off of JAG. The series premiered in September 2009 on CBS and is currently in its second season. Personally, like many other viewers, don't like to get involved in a show during its first season unless it is a guaranteed hit, for fear that I may get too attached and then have the network cancel the series. This has happened to me in many instances and it is very disappointing. NCIS: Los Angeles is a great show. After trying out the series premiere, I was hooked. I just had to continue watching despite my urge not to for fear of cancellation. Luckily, it didn't get cancelled though and currently it is still one of the top ratings producers for CBS, so it doesn't look like it's going anywhere anytime soon.

Last week's episode entitled, “Harm's Way,” is a conclusion of sorts to a story arc that began back in early February with “Lockup.” In that episode Sam, played by LL Cool J, had been undercover in a prison to attempt infiltration into a terrorist group whose leader was also in prison. Action and drama, of course, ensues. In this episode, Sam goes to Yemen on an undercover mission and we learn that Saddat is actually not the real brains behind the group. We learn that Abdul in fact is the real mastermind. He knew that he was an agent and was using him for hostage. Things aren't looking good for Sam, but luckily Callen comes to his aid. You must see it for yourself.

NCIS: LA never fails to deliver a extraordinary hour of action-packed twists and turns. NCIS: LA, hands down, is just a great series. If you haven't gotten a chance to check it out, you undeniably should and soon. You can catch up with the first season as it is now available on DVD.
