Great First Episode
Tonight's premiere episode of NCIS Los Angeles was quite honestly more than I expected. The shows biggest strength without question will be the partnership between LL Cool J and Chris O'Donnell. Their timing and banter appeared to be really solid in the first episode. Gone from the pre-show set up we got on NCIS are some elements of the supporting cast and the high tech elements that McGee fell in love with, but in their place is the amazing Linda Hunt. Ms. Hunt is fantastic filling a “Ducky” like roll as the house mother for this new cast.
Just like the original NCIS show, the cases rarely have anything to do with cases actually found in the jurisdiction of NCIS, but also just like the original it does not seem to matter. Chris O'Donnell seems to have a character that is just as dark and conflicted as the Mark Harmon character on the original. While we do not know all his history it is clear he still has as many layers as any character on television. Getting to know him throughout the year will be key to the show's success. Scripts and characters are extremely well developed. While we are only 2 days into the new season clearly CBS has another hit on it's hands. NCISLA is going to be not to be missed television in our household.
