Still a little Confused...

So I've been on pins and needles all week waiting for this episode of NCIS. Ever since last week where we last left Gibbs on the couch of the drug cartel queen in Mexico. However I'm still a little confused about what was going on.

This week we find Gibbs in Mexico with the daughter of the man who he shot 20 years before, the same man who was responsible for killing his wife and daughter. She asks him various questions until the policia raid the house. The guy in Mexico in charge of the Task force takes Gibbs away from the house, only to return to the woman in charge of the drug cartel where Gibbs finds out she is his sister.

Abby tells Ziva (who is about a day away from becoming a citizen) and Tony that Gibbs has enacted the 40s rule. Ziva and Tony head to Mexico to pick him up only to find him waiting for them at the Airport.

Eventually we find out that the person withholding that report, you know, that one that says Gibbs shot the Drug Cartel Leader in Mexico 20 years ago, was that annoying lady lawyer for Col. Bell. She thinks Gibbs rules, which are what makes him Gibbs, are stupid and he should be trying to bury the report and save himself.

The cliff hanger at the end of this season finale is that the Drug Cartel queen shows up at Gibbs' father's store and the show fades to black after she says hello! Oh no!

The most poignant scene, for me, was when Ziva was taking her oath to become a citizen and she is surrounded by many people, strangers, Abby others from the office, but no Gibbs, and no Tony, who is tailing the Mexican Task Foce guy. So she is being made to renounce all ties to Israel (i.e. her father) and the man who has become her father figure is not there for her. That was a hard one to watch. However, the funny part was when Ziva tells Tony he must feel like the "redheaded stepchild" finally getting an American idiom correct!

I may still need to watch this episode one more time just to make sure I understand all of the nuances that went into what happened. However, quick recap of the things I'm happy about, Frank is alive and well in Mexico, Ziva is a Citizen, The report hasn't actually been sent off yet (and the crazy lawyer thinks they can beat it anyway), the Director seems to be on Gibbs' side. Can't wait for next season.
