The Women of NCIS
When it comes to the Women of NCIS we have seen a lot of them come and go through those elevator doors. From Caitlin Todd to Paula Cassidy, Michelle Lee and Ziva David, a number of female leads have rotated through the office.
Here's my take on all of them.
Special Agent Caitlin Todd
Caitlin was a good enough character as a field agent, but I found it really hard to become attached to her as a character. Perhaps the initial character model is to blame for this. Throughout the first season she made a habit of letting Tony know that everything he did was inappropriate and stepping over the line and bragging that she was a good Catholic. While I have nothing against being Catholic, it just seemed that her character was as likely to pull out a ruler to slap your hand as a gun to take down a bad guy. I just couldn't seem to get a good chemistry going with her.
Special Agent Paula Cassidy
Paula Cassidy served a number of roles between seasons 1 and 4. She didn't really take on a role with the team, except for short time periods to help out, but she seemed to pop in and out regularly until she made the ultimate sacrifice to save them in Grace Period. I liked her overall character. She was a tough woman who had worked Guantanamo and dealt with all the grief of often being the only woman in a man's world. She had a weakness for Tony that she often overcompensated with aggression towards him. Since she was an on-again, off-again character I never really became attached to her, but I did like her show of force in the "Mind Games" serial killer episode.
Agent Michelle Lee
There is not too much to be said for Agent Lee other than her character was a weak personality. While she had the brains and beauty to do anything, she allowed herself to be taken as a pawn in a large game, instead of letting the pros around her help her out of it. I was not saddened to see her go, and liked the way she was written out of the storyline in Season 6.
Israeli Mossad Liaison Officer Ziva David
By far the best decision for a female counter on the NCIS team is Ziva David. I have truly enjoyed getting to know her character from the beginning of the show and look forward to watching her grow as an NCIS agent and seeing her show the rest just how little they know when it comes to affairs of the world and how 'investigations and interrogations' are handled elsewhere. Her character is a perfect fit with the team. Think about it, if you are running a top military investigation unit, you want someone who has the whole package - brains, brawn and beauty. She has it all, knows how to use it, and there is little she can't do (except maybe find a normal dating relationship). I would be very sad to see her go. Heck, I was upset at the idea of it last season, so I hope they keep her around for the long run.
