"Ignition" is Definitely a Fast Ride

The episode begins with two forest rangers discover a dead person as they are walking through a forest that has been recently burned up by a forest fire.

NCIS heads to West Virginia and realize the dead Navy Pilot, Lieutenant Sayers, is burned on one side. They realize a forest fire didn't cause it - his arm is also missing. They find pieces of a plane? They find a fuel tank and a joy stick. It turns out to be a jet pack. Nobody believes that anybody would even fly that.

In the meantime, NCIS investigators realize that Mexico authorities dropped charges against Colonel Bell which means he is “free to roam the country.” This could be trouble as they have had disagreeable dealings with Colonel Bell in the past.

Looking at the pack, they realize that Victor Tillman may have been involved somehow in the death - he may have provided the jet pack.

After Duckie and his apprentice dissect a dead squirrel that was near to Sayers' body, they realize the squirrel died of poisoning. Turns out the squirrel ate some of Sayers' body which was overrun with poison.

Hart, attorney for Tillman, shows up out of nowhere and says that she will not allow Tillman to be questioned until they choose to charge him.

They visit the ex Mrs. Tillman, she says she hired Sayers to test her new version of the jet pack. They think she was using Sayers to find out what Victor Tillman was doing and designing. Hart shows up and tells Mrs. Tillman to not say anything.

NCIS investigators find a remote piece in the jet pack. They think someone put Sayers in the jet pack after they had poisoned him and used a remote to navigate him to his death.

Gibbs is very suspicious of Hart and finds out that she took the Tillmans pro bono. He knows that she would not take their case pro bono unless she were up to something.

At the end, they realize that Sayers' commander was the one that killed him - he and Sayers were stealing from both Tillmans and from the Navy. They confront him and he jumps on the prototype jet pack. McGee has the remote and uses it to bring him down.

When Gibbs brings up a picture on the database of Hart, he sees her in a photo with Colonel Bell. Gibbs realizes that Hart was sent by Colonel Bell and hired a private investigator to spy on them - he doesn't know what they are up to.

This episode moved so quickly, I didn't get a chance to breathe. It was definitely entertaining and funny to see McGee get all into the ins and outs of jet packs. Turns out he has a fetish for this.
