Enemies Domestic

After last week's cliffhanger, this week's highly anticipated episode begins with Gibbs entering the compromised safe house to find Director Vance badly injured and Eli David missing. As has been the trend with NCIS, the episode has a focus; in this case, Director Vance. The episode features flashbacks to Vance's first assignment with NCIS interspersed with scenes in which the NCIS team, along with the Mossad operatives investigate the disappearance of Eli David.

As Vance lays in a hospital bed and his team searches for Eli David, the flashbacks reveal, as previously alluded to, that Eli David and Vance met and worked together for the first time during Vance's assignment in Amsterdam all those years ago.

In other arenas, the tension between Lea and Ziva finally reached breaking point as Lea lies to Ziva as to the suspected whereabouts of her father, a rise Ziva sees through immediately; Ziva confronts Lea about the lie and a full-on fistfight ensues, which is broken up by Eli David, who agrees to come to NCIS and meet with Gibbs to discuss the events that brought them to where they stand today.

As the episode progresses it is made clear that that first assignment in Amsterdam so many years ago has had repercussions that extend into today as it is now clear that there is a traitor amongst the original directors of NCIS. The episode ends when McAllister is revealed to be the dirty agent as he attempts to kill Vance in his hospital room but is unsuccessful as Vance is armed with the knife Gibbs gave him previously using rule #9; never go anywhere without a knife.
