Faith is Just That: Full of Faith in Understanding / Accepting Differences

NCIS: Faith
A couple is out cutting down a tree as itߵs snowing, and they see a man leaning against a tree - dead.
Gibbs's father comes to visit him, you can tell that there is some friction between them.
First Lieutenant Thomas Ellis is the person that is dead. He is barefoot and without gloves. They see that he still has credit cards which means that it wasnߵt a robbery. There are footprints - and they find an Islamic prayer rug under his knees which means that he was probably praying when he was killed. They figure out that he switched from Christianity to Islamic a few months ago.

They go to Tom's house and speak to his wife and his father. The father, now a reverend, thinks that Tom was probably rebelling. Tom's brother, Patrick, comes home in the midst of all this and is stunned to find out that Tom died.

Duckie says the blow to his head that killed him was delivered downward. He notices that Tom cleansed his feet again before he returned to prayer which means that he knew his attacker.

In further investigation, they find some dirt on the widowed wife: she was having an affair when Tom was away and called it off recently.

The Islamic chaplain comes to see Agent Gibbs about Tom. He says that Tom experienced an awakening. Louis Tibbins was one that bothered Ellis continually. Ziba and Tony visit him at the bar and restrain him after a little ruckus. When they bring him in, he tells them that someone paid some in the unit to get Ellis out of the corp. He doesn't know who it was - they were wired the money.

In the meantime, Gibbs brings his father to his basement and asks him to continue making the toys he is bringing to the children's home for Christmas. The father concedes. He then almost burns down the house when he tries to start a fire in the fireplace. And McGee is trying to contact a kid's mother so that he can hear from her on Christmas - a favor for Abby and he says, Santa.

The Agents find out that Ellis's father was paying the guys in the unit to pressure Ellis. He admits to it. The NCIS agents also know that whoever killed Tom had to have a good swing with a bat. Turns out that Ellis's widow was a former softball player.

Chaplain El Sahid returns and shows them a hate note that he just received in the mail. It says that the person is after him and that Tom died because of him.

They finally realize that Tom's brother is a lacrosse player and that that material was found in Tom's wound. They confront him and he says that he did it for his father. He says he had to do it because Tom was embarrassing the family.

The episode ends with Gibbs's father admitting why he is depressed. He says that he was robbed and killed the person. He says that he saw the face, a 23 year old, and he feels badly and that's all he thinks about now.
