Jack Knife is For All You Car Enthusiasts

A corporal wakes up after a night of partying in an alley and sees his comrade, with his throat sliced. He wakes up and is disoriented. He then decides that he needs to do something. Gibbs goes home and is surprised by Damon, the corporal from the alley, and he says he needs help. Damon takes him to Heatherton's body and says that Heatherton was recruiting him for a job (not good). He says that before he decided to visit Gibbs, he visited the man in charge, Lucas, and told him that he'll have another driver with him tomorrow who can help with the delivery. Apparently, they don't know that Heatherton is dead - the first clue that somebody else is involved in this killing.

Duckie sees that the deceased man's fingers were crushed, a tactic used to get someone to talk. They set up Ziva and Damon to go on the inside - to follow through on the driving and pretend that they are all for making money on this drive. Ziva and Damon figure out that they are probably going to be hijacking something or someone when they are forced to empty a giant truck filled with watermelons - making it empty for whatever they plan on picking up.

Ziva tries to get Damon to calm down as he seems stressed while driving. They follow through with plans of hijackers who are going to stop another truck and steal cars. They place their truck in the path on an oncoming trap in hopes that they'll forcibly stop the truck.

While Ziva and Damon are traveling, Gibbs and Toby visit man whose cars hijackers are going to steal. He tells them where his driver is. They jump on truck and confront Ziva, Damon and hijackers. They return to the house of the man who the cars belong to when hijackers claim they didn't kill woman weeks ago. Turns out that Heatherton found a woman weeks ago that had been hit and left for dead by a hit and run driver. When NCIS investigated all traffic accidents along that stretch weeks ago, they came up with this man's name. Heatherton stayed with her in the hospital until she died and then found out who was driving. He was the only witness, and was going to confront this man and make him own up to his mistake and be held accountble. That's why he was killed.
