This Week's Show

It was another roller coaster ride on NCIS this week as they opened the show with a murder, a body dumped down a trash chute in a duffel bag, and a man who was behind it claiming to be Special Agent Anthony Dinozzo.

It was quite the beginning. First of all, the guy who did it looked a lot like Dinozzo. My second thought was, wow, didn't he just get framed for a murder not that long ago? Who is this guy ticking off?

It turns out that was the same thing he was thinking as he made such comments in his dialogue.

So then I started thinking how amazingly simple it was for someone to steal his identity. He went to a very fancy hotel, paid cash for everything and just went around telling everyone he was Tony. Why should they second guess him?

It turns out before we can ask too many questions the person who was impersonating Tony walks up to him and says 'hi'. It was a man he put behind bars three years before on an embezzlement charge . Renny Grant. The body that had been dumped was that of Justin Grady, one of the people who testified against him in the trial.

That makes Grant look like a murderer, right? Not so fast! He has a solid alibi as well as a great line in the show. My quote of the week is this -

Tony - "I'm more interested in why the star witness from your case showed up in your duffle bag."

Renny . "He wouldn't fit in my Samsonite."

Brilliant line!

Ok, back to the show. The case continues to twist and turn trying to get to the bottom of it, with Tony in charge. Yes, I said Tony was in charge. Since it was his case all those years ago, Gibbs hands his phone over to Tony and starts calling him Boss for the duration of the case.

I'm not going to give away the who-done-it aspect of the case, but there were some really neat moments among the team.

One was when Tony took on Gibbs . like tendencies. He was able to magically show up behind people when they were talking about him. That earned McGee a head slap.

He also had to come to terms with the fact that he had sent an innocent man to jail. His reflection made me think about investigator's jobs. What if you found out that you thought you had the right guy, locked him up, and later found you took three years of his life away from him because you made a mistake? It was quite the deep show and well worth watching!
